Bradenton is where the showroom is. Our building is on 14th Street West, ten minutes from downtown Sarasota and about the same from the Manatee River, and this is the city our crews start and finish the day in.

That matters more than it sounds. A Bradenton job is one where somebody can come back the same afternoon to look at something, where a material swap does not cost a day, and where you can stand in front of the actual slab before you buy it rather than choosing from a two-inch sample.

Because the showroom is here, Bradenton is the city where people most often come in twice — once to look and once to decide. Most of what leaves with them is tile, engineered wood or a hard-wearing floor for a house with sand in it; if you are still narrowing that down, what actually survives a Florida house is the guide worth reading first.

The neighbourhoods we work in most

Downtown Bradenton and the Riverwalk, the Village of the Arts, West Bradenton and Palma Sola, Bayshore Gardens, Braden River, Whitfield, Tallevast, West Samoset, South Bradenton, and out to the fishing village at Cortez.

The housing stock

Bradenton's core is older than Lakewood Ranch and newer than downtown Sarasota — a lot of concrete-block ranch houses from the 1950s through the 1970s, many of them with original terrazzo, many with additions that were built on slabs poured at a different time and to a different level than the original.

That last point is the practical one. A house that has been added to twice has two or three slabs of different ages meeting at doorways, and they do not move together. Where they meet, a tiled floor needs a movement joint rather than a continuous run of grout, and skipping that is the usual cause of a cracked line running exactly where the addition starts.

Riverfront and Palma Sola

Anything near the Manatee River or out toward Palma Sola Bay is close enough to salt air that metal is the weak point rather than the tile. Transition strips, drains, fixings and exposed trim should be stainless or a proper coastal-grade finish. It is a small cost at the time and a visible one three years later.

Come to the floor

We are open Monday to Friday, and Saturday by appointment. The showroom carries full slabs rather than sample chips, which is the only way to judge a book-matched porcelain or a heavily veined stone — a three-inch sample of a dramatic slab tells you almost nothing about what the wall will look like.

From the yard here the crews reach Anna Maria Island in twenty minutes and Lakewood Ranch in about the same the other way — each has a page of its own for what the work looks like there.

Questions we get in Bradenton

Can I just come in without an appointment?

Yes. We are open Monday to Friday, and Saturday by appointment. The reason to come in rather than start online is that the showroom carries full slabs rather than sample chips — and a three-inch chip of a heavily veined porcelain tells you almost nothing about what a whole wall of it will look like. Bring a photograph of the room and any fixed finishes you are matching to.

My house has an addition. Does that change the floor?

It does, and it is the most common cause of a cracked line in a Bradenton house. An addition sits on a slab poured at a different time to a different level, and the two do not move together. Where they meet, a tiled floor needs a movement joint rather than a continuous run of grout. Skipping it is what puts a crack exactly where the addition starts, usually in year two, and it is not a tile fault.

Do you do the work yourselves or subcontract it?

Our own crews. That is the reason the company exists in the shape it does — we sell the material and we install it, so there is no gap between the person who told you the floor would work and the person who put it down. It also means a Bradenton job can have somebody back the same afternoon rather than next week.
