Installing tile since 2005; founded SRQ Modern in 2017 on one idea — the people who sell you the surface should be the people who install it.
- CTEF Certified Tile Installer
Alan started installing tile in 2005 and has never really stopped. The first years were on the tools — floors, showers, and the large-format work most crews turn down — and it is still how he judges a job: by the last grout line, not the first drawing.
He learned the other half of the trade running a tile showroom in Sarasota from 2013 to 2018, and came away with the idea the whole company is built on: selling a surface and installing it are one trade, and nobody should have to buy from one company and hope another one installs it right. SRQ Modern opened in 2017 on that idea — a crew first, then the Bradenton studio, then the building next door for Riva Spain's engineered wood, the Duradek dealership, and Shellcrete, the shell-aggregate surface the company pours itself.
He is a CTEF Certified Tile Installer, and the standard the team is trained to is his own question: would I be proud to put the SRQ Modern name on this? If not, it is not finished.
The company is family-owned — Romina, his wife, runs finance and operations — and most of its work still arrives the way it did at the start: a builder or a designer who has used the crew once and calls again.
