SRQ Modern

Tile Studio · Riva Gallery · Shellcrete

The parent company behind this showroom.

SRQ Modern is a showroom and an installation company in one building in Bradenton, and that is the whole proposition. Most tile companies sell you the box and leave you to find a crew; the split is where jobs go wrong, because a material problem and a workmanship problem look identical from the outside and each trade can point at the other.

What that means on a job

One quote, one schedule, one company holding the outcome. The person walking you through options in the showroom can tell you how a material behaves after five years on a Florida pool deck, because the same company put the last one down.

The brands under it

Two are ours. Shellcrete is our own coastal shell-concrete surface. SRQ Shield is sealing, protection and restoration, and it runs its own operation — that work is quoted and booked at srqshield.com rather than here.

Two appointed us to represent them. Riva Spain for European engineered hardwood and Duradek for vinyl decking, both as authorized dealers and installers.

The rest — the porcelain, stone and mosaic on the showroom floor — are manufacturers we buy from and stock. The difference matters when something goes wrong, so the brands page says which is which rather than putting every logo in one row and calling them all partners.

SRQ Modern in our work

Walk-in wet room with a glass panel, twin rain heads, a marble niche, cream stacked tile and a freestanding tub

Sarasota

A coastal interior in tile and porcelain

Tile and large-format porcelain through a whole house — a scullery in green backsplash tile and wood-look plank, a wet room with twin rain showers over a marble-look floor and a linear drain, a freestanding tub in a cream tiled alcove, and a covered lanai in pale speckled porcelain.

Covered lanai at dusk with a polished Shellcrete floor in large panels reflecting the sliding doors

Sarasota

Polished Shellcrete lanai and pool deck

A covered lanai floor polished to a high gloss and laid in large panels that pick up the reflection of the sliding doors, running out to a screened pool deck with a raised ledge carrying a linear fire feature.

Shellcrete entrance steps seen from the side, mitred nosings and slab thickness visible in profile

Sarasota

Shellcrete driveway and entrance steps

A driveway and front entrance in exposed-shell Shellcrete. The steps are mitred at the nosings so the slab thickness reads as one piece, with step lights inset into the landing, and the driveway surface is dense with rings, spirals and whole shell fragments.

Freeform organic islands of pale Shellcrete set into artificial turf running to a white modern house entrance

Sarasota

Shellcrete driveway with freeform turf islands

A full-frontage driveway of pale Shellcrete, cut into large slabs and freeform islands with artificial turf running between them, laid up to the entrance of a white modern house.

Timber formwork set out in a grid across a sand sub-base before a pour, with kraft paper protecting the garage doors

Sarasota

A Shellcrete driveway, poured in panels

The pour itself — a whole driveway laid out as a grid of freshly placed Shellcrete panels, still in their timber formwork, in front of a raised coastal house. The joint layout is set before any concrete is placed, not cut in afterwards.

Entrance steps and landing in a freshly applied pale topping seen from the side with timber forms on each nosing

Sarasota

Entrance steps in fresh Shellcrete topping

Entrance steps and a covered terrace under a freshly applied pale topping, smooth and not yet ground, with the timber edge forms still fixed to each riser.
